About Me
My name is Jacob Cox. I am a graduate from Dixie State College with a Bachelor of Integrated Studies degree in Music and Visual Technologies. I originally began college with the intent of being a music teacher. I pursued that dream both at Dixie State and Utah State.
During my second year at Utah State I began to re-evaluate my career choice. What I realized was that pursuing a degree in music was becoming more of a burden, and ultimately ruining my passion for it. This was due to both unfavorable professors, and work overload. So I decided to change my career path. I moved back to St. George, UT and began taking classes for web and graphic design in the summer of 2011.
Since then I have taken in depth courses in front end web design. Including HTML, CSS, and basic jQuery. I have also taken high level design classes. Including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Flash. I feel that I am quite fluent in all the adobe software that I have used, and I am very comfortable writing code in HTML and CSS. I am still improving my skills in jQuery and php only because I haven't had as much experience writing in them.
I am an incredibly fast learner when it comes to technology, and have proven myself as such in both my classes, and my work environments. I am always critiquing my work, and trying to make it better. When it comes to my own work I tend to have a high attention to detail. If I don't know how to do something I will research it until I find an answer. In addition, I have become quite good at using open source code and plugins, and tweaking the code until they are usable for me.
When it comes to social interactions I am very personable. I am polite, I listen intently, and I am very good at reading body language. I am a team player, and I believe in both working hard and having fun. I am honest, accountable, and I am consistently punctual.
